ATLANTA, GA—An Evangelism Rally leading up to this summer’s evangelistic effort called Searching for Hope took place at the West End Seventh-day Adventist Church in Atlanta, Ga., on March 26. Over 300 people attended the meeting led by Mark Finley.
The meeting focused on individual evangelism. Mark Finley stressed the importance of each person in the pew to get out and share the news of Christ with others.
“It’s a reoccurring problem to just be relaxed…We have become people who are just pew warmers,” said Rodney Davis from the Douglasville, Ga., Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Finley emphasized the message by making it a challenge. Giselle Mccalla of the West End Seventh-day Adventist Church said, “I thought it was a good thing to do, to challenge us, to look at the people around us and minister in that way… You can have an impact on the people who are around you, your coworkers, your neighbors. Let Jesus show through me and be a positive light.”
The message was also reinforced by Finley’s own testimony, which inspired those attending. “The experiences that Finley had and shared with everybody were very exciting,” said Ronald Virgil, from the West End Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The West End church is following up on this meeting by putting to work the message that was shared. They have a group called the Soul Winning Action Team who go into the community and give Bible studies and have plans for a Youth Explosion which will occur just before this summer’s Searching for Hope meetings.
When asked about the upcoming summer of evangelism Mark Finley stated, “Atlanta will be the center of the world for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in June and July of this year at the General Conference Session. Previous to that session, God will continue to move powerfully through Seventh-day Adventist churches. All ethnic groups and pastors will unite together for an evangelistic series...I think the thing that thrills my heart most is seeing people coming together, seeing people focus on the mission of the church, and seeing them put aside any differences or any barriers that have been them, to make a difference for Christ and His kingdom and reveal his love to Atlanta.”
