CGS Kids Sharing Time
The first CGS kids sharing event takes place!
Both the sun and The Son were shining brightly Sabbath afternoon...
February 21, 2009, on a vacant lot in Buford, Georgia. The neighborhood children participating in the weekly Friday night Connect Grow Share meeting invited their parents and friends to come and share what they have learned about the Bible. The blessing of a beautiful day greeted everyone as they found their seats and prepared for the big event. To begin the program, Chris and Heidi Donavan welcomed everyone and gave some basic information. Then the fun began.
Action songs were sung (with parental involvement), Bible verses repeated, and a play about David and Goliath presented. The energy and excitement of the children in their costumes with the addition of outdoor scenery made the story come to life. Even though each portion of the program was wonderful and applauded with appreciation, the highlight of the event was the presentation of Bibles to the children who had memorized ten Bible verses. Each Bible was personalized with the child’s name engraved and a special text written out on the inside.
The afternoon ended with hot cider, chocolate and homemade cookies. The parents, children and volunteers looked through the children’s notebooks, stayed for fellowship and left for home, hopefully with a deeper knowledge that God loves them. (see pictures here)
This Share event was part of the outreach evangelism called CGS Organic Church. The church focuses on seeking all that God has to offer people while living in our current world. The process starts with Jesus. It runs according to a particular design that manifests His power in saving and transforming ways. As it says in Acts 1:8, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.“ God uses people, His people, as a channel through which He reveals a reflection of himself.
The young people in the Connect Grow Share church are beginning to understand that believing in the saving grace of Jesus Christ is a gift that can‘t be kept to ourselves! Through the love of Jesus Christ himself and the power of the Holy Spirit we are able to work along side the One who made heaven and earth. We can SHARE His light from the One who commands darkness to flee and we can witness the birth of a new life in Jesus, the One who sets people free! There is no greater power than the power of love. Chris and Heidi Donavan are praying that the parents and other families in Pebblebrook / Millridge will embrace God’s love and do life together; to Connect with God, Grow into His likeness, and Share Him with others!
